Refurbishment and extension of the Helsinki Olympic Stadium has won the Finnish Steel Prize 2019. Steel Structure of the Year is one of the most significant Finnish architectural awards. The prize is awarded to an architecturally advanced construction project that excelled in the construction phase of both steel and other metals during the past year.
The 2019 Steel Structure of the Year award was given to the refurbished Olympic Stadium for its outstanding architectural and structural execution of its new roofs. The shape and grit of the roof structure have been made possible by the demanding fine steel structures. The whole project will be completed in summer 2020.
